Breakfast tarte aux pommes végane

So, SOMEBODY told me this did not deserve to be called apple pie because it was neither rich or sweet enough,… I personally like it but, okay, I’ll compromise and trick you by using the French name and calling it a breakfast dish :>

Ingredients:

FOR THE DOUGH:

  • 1/2c heaping white flour + 1c whole-wheat flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/4c turbinado sugar
  • 2 TBSP coconut oil
  • 1/2c almond milk
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • dash vanilla extract

FOR THE FILLING:

  • almond butter
  • apple sauce (+ sugar if unsweetened)
  • 2 apples, peeled and sliced into thin half-moons

Instructions:

  • preheat oven at 400F
  • mix all the dough ingredients throroughly, and fill a pie dish
  • spread a thin layer of almond butter first, then apple sauce, sprinkle with sugar
  • add the apples in a flower-like, concentric circles arrangement
  • bake for 40 minutes
