Spicy golden latte

A soothing and immune boosting drink, and a great substitute for coffee!


  • 1c almond milk
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (Ceylon preferably, rather than Cassia: it will not thicken your drink as much, plus it’s supposed to be healthier)
  • 1/8 tsp ginger powder
  • pinch black, pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp maple syrup


  • Warm up the cup of milk in the microwave (1 min at max power)
  • Add spices, blend well (I love these mini whisks)
  • Sweeten as desired

    UMark brought home some CEYLON cinnamon after hearing its healthier in drinks. Cassia cinnamon was what we usually bought. Doesn’t thicken up the drink and leaves more of the cinnamon dregs on the bottom of the cup. No more straining! Your spice measurements are perfect, too. Thanks Angelique! Happy Thanksgiving!

    Hi Angelique, I love this recipe. What makes me crazy about this recipe is how thick it ends up being even after we strain it. Any suggestions?
